Eyelid Surgery in Liverpool
If you have excess skin around your eyelids and it is affecting your vision or confidence Blepharoplasty surgery could be a good option for you. Get in touch with us for a consultation.
What is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that helps to remove the fatigued and tired look around the eyes, which is common to ageing.
Eyelid surgery typically takes between one and three hours to complete and can be performed under local anaesthetic.
Who is Blepharoplasty For?
The best candidate for eyelid surgery is someone who is looking to remove excess skin or puffy bags from around the eyes.
The skin around your eyes can become stretched as you age due to the muscles surrounding them becoming weaker. This may lead to vision or health problems.
For blepharoplasty you must be aged 18 or over, be physically and mentally well, have a concern about the appearance of your eyes and be realistic as to what changes surgery can achieve.
The Benefits of Blepharoplasty Surgery
- Improve your vision
- Improve your confidence
- More youthful appearance
- Look less tired
What happens immediately after surgery?
Recovery from blepharoplasty is usually quick, but you may experience some pain around your eyes in the hours after the procedure is carried out. Your surgeon will provide you with pain relief medication to take home if they feel it is necessary.
Total rest will speed up your recovery so we advise taking one week off work after surgery. Please do not attempt to drive until your vision has recovered. You should also avoid UV light for between two and four weeks. This will aid the scarring process.
The final results of your surgery should be apparent after approximately three weeks, once the bruising and swelling have disappeared.
What are the risks associated with this type of surgery?
While complications are unlikely all surgery does carry some risk. Infection, swelling, sensation change and bleeding can occur in all types of procedures.
For blepharoplasty dry eyes, ptosis, millia and subconjunctival oedima are also possible.
All of these risks will be discussed with you at your initial conversation.
